SanAntonio Skyline

Yesterday evening on our way home from SanAntonio, this was the view of the skyline at sunset. The colors were amazing! (no touch-ups or tweaks here!)

My son Cameron held the camera out of the moving car to get these pictures for me! Good job, Cam.

Go check out other SkyWatcher's photos from today!

You Might be a Bird-Lover...

If you have room for an entire migrating flock in your front yard...

I found this in the FRONT yard of a home in a really nice, fancy neighborhood today. All I could wonder was "What do the neighbors think?"

Graves on a Hillside

This tree stands on a lonely hill in one of the cemetarys here in town. Notice the few graves at the trees base...

Sky Watch Friday

We had the most beautiful, clear skies today over our smalltown of Seguin, Texas. But this evening on my way home from work, the cold front was coming in from the north! It made for a beautiful sky and dramatic clouds as they crept in over the once clear skies. It was as if a blanket of clouds was being pulled right over top of us. The bright orange sunset only added to the beauty! Enjoy!

Is it just me, or does it look like a huge parana?!

Now go check out some of the other Sky Watcher's Friday posts!

God's Color Pallet

This sure has been a pretty fall for us here in South Texas. I pass this little 'cove' every day on my way home from work, but today screeched to a halt, drove back, climbed out of my car, and snapped a shot. I was afraid this may be the peak color day and I'd have missed it!

I had photographed Riley and Cameron on this same path one Spring, but it's not nearly as pretty as it is today in the fall!

Compliments of my Mom

This cross stands high atop a hill on the way to Bandera, Texas. We pass by it every time we go to visit my mom. Well, she got to take a little tour up the hill right to the foot of the cross last week. I'm jealous, Mom!

Anyway, I loved this picture that she took, so asked if I could post it. Notice the people in the bottom left-hand corner. It's a HUGE CROSS!

Our Yard Has Color, Too!

Although our front yard looks pretty dead,
and is COVERED in dead leaves...

There are a few trees that are just beautiful.

This particular one in the back yard looked so pretty as the sun was setting and the sunlight was shining through the reds, oranges, and golds...

Cooper is loving the cooler weather and blends in rather nicely with the fall colors.

Gobble, Gobble

While out looking for our dog one day, I followed these five guys running down our little dirt road...
As I got closer to them, they hopped the fence and ran away into the woods... but not before I got this shot...

Run fellas, run! You don't have much longer!!!

I Liked The Lighting...

My son Cameron usually takes funny pictures... of such things as nostrils, eyeballs, his uvula (the dangly thing in the back of your throat). Often I find self portraits of him just making weird faces. He doesn't tell me he does it, just waits for me to FIND them. Ugggh! When downloading my photos off my camera, I find SOOOOOO many photos that I instantly DELETE. But occasionally, I find a keeper.

This is his latest that I just loved...

We've Been "Flocked"

We arrived at work this morning to find an entire flock of Pink Flamingos out on our front lawn. Now being that I work at a "WaterPark" manufacturing company, the pink flamingos really seemed to fit in rather nicely. But as you can see by the sign, we'd been "FLOCKED".

It seems that these pink critters popped in as a fundraising event - and the only way to get rid of them is to buy "Flocking Insurance" for $35 which insures that they will not come back. OR you could pay $25 to have them shipped on to another unsuspecting victim and have THEM "Flocked". We chose to share the love and send them on to my boss's parents' house. Won't they be surprised to find a front yard full of pink flamingos when they awake tomorrow morning?! =0) {{snicker}}

But we sure thought it was a cute concept. Although we did think about just keeping them and putting them in our planters along the building and in our big sign out by the road. The planters have NO FLOWERS in them whatsoever, and a few bright pink flamingos might add just the right touch! But we were good and passed the flock on....

Flock on!

Golden Leaves

Oh, you're gonna be sick of me, but I've got a FALL THEME going on here lately, don't I? Oh well...you'll get over it! I love the colors and I'm gonna keep posting them while I can!

Autumn Roadsides

I don't know about you, but I am absolutely LOVING the fall colors along our roadsides right now. I know in another few weeks, we'll have nothing but bare trees, but for now, I'm loving it! This is the view just beyond my driveway. This is what I'm surrounded by at home right now. This is my "neck-o-the-woods!" Aren't they gorgeous?

And I know you Northerners know what REAL colors look like, but for South Texas, this is pretty. =0)

Ten Pins

The guys and I went out bowling on Saturday night. We had a great time together!

Towards the end of our evening, they turned off the lights for "Lunar Bowling". The only lights on the lanes were those above the pins. It made for a great reflection on the glossy wood!

A Spot O' Tea

Riley attended her first real "Tea Party" this past weekend hosted by her friend Valerie. Some of the pictures turned out SOOOO good! I love this one's dreamy effect. Riley had a splendid time with scones, crumpets, and a spot o' tea in the company of friends and classmates.

To see the rest of the magical photos from her day,
check them out here on my other blog.

First Signs Of Fall

Although the morning temperatures have definitely said loud and clear that FALL is in the air, the trees have taken a little longer to speak to us. Friday on my ride home from work, I noticed that the leaves on the trees out in our area are finally beginning to fade to fall colors. In South Texas, we don't get a lot of 'color' in the fall like in other parts of the country. But we do see a little bit. It won't be long now before the woods which surround our home will be nothing more than very bare, dead-looking trees. The winter months out here in the woods are so lifeless, dull and gloomy. We go from vibrant colors and lush 'woods' to gray... Simply put, just GRAY. The tree trunks look gray, the dead grass looks gray, the world out here - just seems gray. I guess that makes us appreciate the spring and summer months all the more. Thank God we live in Texas where we have 9 months of foliage and only 3 months without.

Sunrise Under a Blanket

Yesterday morning as the kids and I headed to school, I reminded them of the upcoming time change. Next week, we'll be leaving for school after the sun has already risen and although we'll get to sleep later, we will not get to enjoy the beautiful sunrises that we so often see as we travel to school.

Yesterday morning's was absolutely fabulous. The clouds were like a blanket over the sky, but broke just before the horizon so that we could see the sun coming up over the treetops.
All of these photos were uploaded exactly as they came off the camera. No tweaking, no "adjusting" of the colors. The sky was just that beautiful!!!

In one shot it looks sooooo red...

And the same photo in the very next shot turned out this yellow....

And about 10 minutes further down the road, I pulled over again to get a shot as the sun disappeared up into the blanket of clouds. The beauty of the sunrises will be missed when the time changes this weekend.

"And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day."

Steamy River

Although it's still getting up into the 80's in the daytime, the mornings have been COLD in the low 40's. On my way to work, as I drove over the Guadalupe River, the steam was rising up off of the water into the cool morning air. I always think its beautiful...

Peeping Squirrel

We had a little visitor at work today. Meet "Shorty". He lives in the big pecan tree right outside my office's front door. He's very used to the flow of people that come in and out through this door, and is fairly comfortable when we walked by him. He doesn't come REAL close, but he's used to our day-to-day traffic none-the-less. We call him Shorty because he only has half a tail.

Today Shorty came running up to the front door, put both of his little paws on the glass, and peered in. Then he began licking the glass with his tiny little tongue. He was SOOOO cute! I tried not to move too much so he wouldn't run away. I was able to snap this picture with my cell phone before someone walked up the sidewalk to enter through the door, and off Shorty ran. Oh well, we enjoyed his little visit.

Wednesday's Texas Sky

The clouds yesterday afternoon were patchy and oh soooo cool! I took this photo looking straight upward in my work parking lot while leaning out of my car window. Sometimes we do have some really beautiful Texas Skies! When I got inside, I told everyone to be sure to look up when they went outside. I'd sure hate for that sky to not be noticed and appreciated!

View From The Sky

Yesterday on my lunchbreak, I got to go for an awesome ride up into the sky!!!
My cousin Randy stood down below and got this awesome photo for me. I was about 75' up at this point! What an awesome view I had!!!!

There are lots more pictures of the ride and the view on my other blog.

It made for some beautiful views for the kids and I on our way to school.

Fall Foliage

From the road, they appear to only be weeds, but up close they had pretty little white flowers ALLLL over them. I thought they were interesting enough...

Peaceful Pond

On a fieldtrip with my son Cameron's class, I found this peaceful little pond.
I love the reflections in the water...

Froggy Friday

So I want you to picture for a moment if you will...
To get my "Froggy Friday" pictures, I spot them in random places - sometimes they're total strangers yards. So I park, run up into total strangers yards, jump back in my car and take off. It's like a little scavenger hunt for me! This little guy was in a yard and I got up there and realized he was dirty. But I didn't want to NOT take his picture just cuz he was dirty; dirty frogs are still frogs! I thought "Wonder if I'd get caught if I washed him off." But I wasn't that daring. I snapped the photo and RAN! ha ha ha

I've only been caught one time so far, and that was a rather funny incident as I tried to explain why I was snapping a picture of a lawn ornament! My scavenger hunt continues!

Highway To Heaven

On my way home from work the other day, this huge, billowy thunderhead was looming low and the road seemed to head straight into it. I know, it's probably not the best idea to drive and take photos through the windshield at the same time. I wondered if the car in front of me kept noticing the flash going off on my camera. =0)

A Night At The Fair

Thursday night was the opening night for our Country Fair & Rodeo! So of course, we took the family out and enjoyed the night together.

I love the lights of the rides against the black sky!

The County Fair Arrives!

This morning we checked out the fairgrounds ahead of the crowds. Everything was still being set up. We're ready!!

Tonight - it all kicks off and we'll be there!!

Early Morning Sky

The mornings sare so nice and cool when we venture out each morning on our way to school & work. On this particular morning, I thought the clouds looked like sea foam bubbles!

The Biggest Boots

Last night while in SanAntonio to celebrate Riley's 9th birthday, we went to North Star Mall. They have THE BIGGEST BOOTS I have ever seen. Cameron and Riley ran over to pose in front of them....

Guineas

I always seem to find weird birds on the side of the road. I stopped right alongside these guineas, took their picture, and they didn't even budge. They just seemed to pose for me.

Distorted Reflections

As a big semi passed us by at the parade on Saturday, Riley and I smiled at our weird, distorted reflection that was changing constantly as the truck moved along. =0)

"Fair Parade"

This afternoon, Riley and I went to our small town's Fair Parade. It's a small parade compared to our July 4th Parade, but we enjoyed it because it was only about 45 minutes long. =0)

For more photos from today's parade, check out my family blog.

Sunrise, Sunrise

Every morning on our way to school, I have this beaufitul view in my rearview mirror as I head over this one particular hill. This morning, we'd left a few minutes earlier than normal so despite my kids whines and complains, I pulled over for this shot. I'm so glad I did, too!

View From The Church

Last night after church got out, Cameron headed outside while I was still inside talking with friends. Suddenly he came running back in and said, "Mom, you HAVE to come here!" So I followed him outside to the church parking lot where he pointed towards the moon and exclaimed, "LOOK AT THAT!"

Ahhhh, that's my boy!

Fall Flowers

This was taken yesterday evening as Riley and I meandered around our front yard and enjoyed the cool evening air.
