Road to the Cross

Every time we take a trip up to see my mom in Bandera, we pass this HUGE cross on a hill. You can see how tiny the road leading up to this gigantic cross is. It kinda shows you the immense size! This is the same cross that my mom recently sent me a photo of.

This was taken at 65 mph with my zoom lens on my new camera. Woo hoo! =0)

There's a New Ride in Town

There's a new attraction at ZDT's. This tall thing has been under construction this week. It's a pretty neat thing to be seen here in our small town.

The kids are excited and can't wait to try out this new ride!

Santa Was Here!!!

So this evening on my way home from work, I looked in my rearview mirror and what to my wandering eyes should appear???? St. Nick was right behind me!!! He was driving this Ford pick-up so nobody would "notice" him. I wonder what he's doing so far away from the North Pole at this time of year? Shouldn't he be back at home making sure everything's ready for Christmas? Afterall, there's only 14 more days!!!

This picture was taken in my rearview mirror (thus the backwards view), but I reminded Riley that EVERYTHING at the North Pole is backwards, so she's positive that this REALLY is Santa!

Inside Our Tree

Central Park Gazebo

A new gazebo was just finished in Central Park here in town... just in time for the Thursday nights Christmas Parade that was held downtown! I took this picture on Thursday afternoon while the sun was still out and shining beautifully over the town!

I Love Old Buildings

Right downtown here in our small town we have some beautiful, old, historic buildings. I think this has to be one of the prettiest! Right now it serves as an attorney's office.

Christmas Tree Blurr

Last night after we decorated our Christmas tree, my son Cameron was snapping pictures. I guess he moved slightly as he took this shot of the tree but I liked the way the lights turned out. =0)

Palace Theatre

The old theatre in town is still used regularly. You'll notice on the billboard that it's FREE ADMISSION for the upcoming shows. Riley, Mr. Mike, and I actually went to see "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" in this theatre earlier this year. It's a neat old place!

Front Yard Leaves

I walked around our front yard last week plucking brightly colored leaves from our trees. I'm loving the fall colors!! I wish they'd just stay there and not fall to the ground leaving our trees looking like skeletons and our yard seeming gray, dull, and dead!

From My Kitchen Window...

Lately the outdoors are hazy and we have had some very overcast, gloomy skies.
We are in the midst of Fall.

Where did summer go? I miss it already!!!

Bursting With Berries

Riley and I stumbled across this bush that was literally BURSTING with red berries.

Picnic by the Starke Dam

Along the river banks you'll find many round, rock picnic tables
which you can sit and eat at...

...while enjoying the beautiful view of the dam.
It's beautiful right now with the fall leaves surrounding it.

Starke Golf Course

It was a very overcast day as Riley and I roamed through Starke Park, but we didn't care. It wasn't too cold out, and made for nice exploring weather even if the sun wasn't shining brightly.

Duck Calling

While visiting Starke Park on Saturday, Riley spotted a flock of ducks swimming downstream. She began 'quacking' at them, and suddenly they all turned and came towards us. She thought it was the neatest things that her "duck call" really worked!

Deck The Streets

It just really seems too EARLY to be decorating for Christmas. However, driving through the city streets it seems like everyone is already getting into the holiday spirit! There is a tiny part of me that's almost ready for it. The rest of me is dragging my feet and saying, "At least wait until Thanksgiving is over." Nevertheless, Christmas is just around the corner.
