Friday Night Moon

At last night's Falcons Football Game, we had a gorgeous moon overhead which was peeping through the clouds at us. The clouds had a pinkish tint to them!

I love umbrellas... and I love COLORS! While strolling down the San Antonio Riverwalk on Sunday evening, these brightly colored umbrellas called my name!

Sky Watch Friday - RED Skies

Last night as I headed into Wal-Mart with the kids, we climbed out of the car and Riley said "Mom, you have GOT to see this sky!" Sure enough, it was worth grabbing my camera and snapping this shot. This shot is SOC (straight outta camera) with absolutely no tweaking or editing or color changes.

Isn't God's artwork just awesome???

Seguin's Photo Scavenger Hunt

- SEGUIN LANDMARKS -

- Landmark #1 -

"The Calaboose" was originally mounted on wheels and served as a means of transporting county prisoners. Pulled by horses and/or mules, it was taken to fields where the prisoners would then be released to work the fields. The inner walls still display graffiti left by the prisoners.

- Landmark #2 -

The "Campbell Cabin" was originally built back in 1850 by one of Seguin's earliest pioneers, the John Campbell. He had migrated from Ireland to Seguin in 1847. The Campbell family and it's descendants called this cabin "home" until 1957.

Rainbow Umbrella

Tonight at the football game, we had a light rain, so people began pulling out their umbrellas. I don't think I've ever seen one prettier than this one which sat just a few yards in front of me. =0)

Blue Skies Over Texas

Here in Texas, the clouds have not brought forth rain.

The fields are dry and dusty.
Crops have burnt in the heat of the sun.
Once lush fields of green are now only a sea of gold.
But the skies are still a BEAUTIFUL blue!

This was the sky that accompanied me home
from work on Wednesday evening.

Sunset in Paradise

While up in Paradise, Texas last week we had some beautiful storm clouds roll in. They were just beautiful as the sun began to set behind them!

Old, Old Steps at the Mill

Our favorite swimming hole is just outside of this old mill. The mill itself is a pretty neat old place. I think the steps leading up to it have so much character! I just love rustic, old buildings like these.

God's Ribbon in the Sky

Here in our part of Texas, it is so dead and dry. We've been praying for RAIN!!!
Wednesday night during church, God answered our prayers. It was so loud that you could hardly hear during the prayer service. =0)

As we exited the church to head home, we found an awesome ribbon waiting for us. I hurried up the hill with my camera in hand, but couldn't get any further back than this due to a fence. Isn't it neat how the church building is centered right in the middle?

Thank you God for the much needed rain!

Sky Watch Friday

This evening on our way home from town, the sun was setting and I was able to catch it just before it went behind the clouds. Just a few moments later, it was behind clouds! I was so glad I pulled over when I did and got the shot.

The Longest Eyelashes

Cameron has the longest eyelashes! Any female would be thrilled to have these things. But he's been complimented on them his WHOLE life and he hates them. He's asked if he can please cut them shorter. Uhhh, no! I don't think so! Lucky little boy!

Wildflower on the Riverbank

I don't know the 'actual' name of these flowers. I only know what my Grandfather called them when I was growing up. They are not a "politically correct" term, and I will not be repeating it to you here. HOWEVER, I will forever remember what "Granddad" always called these babies.

Bell Flower

A beautiful bell flower found along the banks of the river at Zedlar Mill in Luling, Texas.

The Tamest Dragonfly

While the kids swam at Zedler Mill, I found this big dragonfly just as it settled down on a leaf. I crept up to it and slowly began taking pictures. Each time I'd get "the shot" I'd then risk moving slightly closer. No matter how close I got, he never flew away. Finally Cameron came out of the river and joined me. He was able to touch this fella...

And when Cameron extended his finger, the dragonfly climbed right on. Cameron walked everywhere with him for about 10 minutes before the dragonfly finally flew away into the bushes. But not before I'd gotten some pretty cool shots of them!
